Figure Ground Cutouts

Image
The first draft I did turned out a bit bad so this one was the second one I went for. What I learned from doing this project about the figure grounds is that the background has to be dark and the other a lighter color to make the person looking at the artwork focus on the figure on the paper than the background itself. What was challenging to me for this project was the shapes I was supposed to do so it can look good as if it looks inverted. On the first draft I made I wanted the shapes to be more unique and interesting, but it looked boring so I restarted and made more shapes to make it more unique and so it looks better when I put it to the side to make the cut out pieces look inverted which was another reason I switched from my first draft to this one. The design is a bit random and the pieces are a bit wobbly since most of them are just squiggly lines and random shapes to make it look more interesting and to not make it seem boring. I went with these colors for the project si...

Point Line Plane by Emily Gomez

This drawing was the first drawing I made was, line. I liked this first drawing when I did it in the rough drafts because it looked like a rose to me in a weird way, so I decided to add it to the published one, and what I did here was just add lines and make it go smaller as I go further into the middle of the paper. but it was a challenge to me because it didn't look like how it was in the draft which was a disappointment for me, but it was too late to change it. I think I could have changed it by fixing the lines and the ends of it. But I think it looks weird and different because of the frame since it looks different on the rough draft. This drawing shows that I've used points on this frame. When I drew this on the rough drafts it was easy for me since I just drew 3 dots and resembled a point since it was basically just 3 points. It was challenging for me since it was easy, but the only thing I didn't have to mess up was the circles since I was doing it with a sharpie. T...
