Figure Ground Cutouts
The first draft I did turned out a bit bad so this one was the second one I went for. What I learned from doing this project about the figure grounds is that the background has to be dark and the other a lighter color to make the person looking at the artwork focus on the figure on the paper than the background itself. What was challenging to me for this project was the shapes I was supposed to do so it can look good as if it looks inverted. On the first draft I made I wanted the shapes to be more unique and interesting, but it looked boring so I restarted and made more shapes to make it more unique and so it looks better when I put it to the side to make the cut out pieces look inverted which was another reason I switched from my first draft to this one. The design is a bit random and the pieces are a bit wobbly since most of them are just squiggly lines and random shapes to make it look more interesting and to not make it seem boring. I went with these colors for the project since I liked the colors and thought it would pop off.
