Interrelationship of Forms - Emily Gomez

For Detachment, this was the first draft I have done since it was the easiest one to complete. There wasn't any challenge when completing this one since you just had to detach the forms and give the form space to separate. When making this artwork I just thought about making the forms separate from each other and to not touch each other or it would be touching. This artwork was the easiest and fastest one I could do even though there are only 3 simple shapes detached from each other. The only thing I would try to change to fix in this artwork would be to try to make the shapes cleaner and equal.

For subtraction, this was a bit difficult to complete since I didn't know what to do here so I looked up an example and took it as an inspiration. I took some simple shapes and made the biggest form into dashes as if it was transparent. There wasn't much of a challenge except on trying to make the shapes perfect and making the sides of the shape even and clean. If I could change anything in this artwork is to change the triangle and to not make it too wide like how it looks like in the final but also make the dashes even.
For penetration, this was harder for me to do since in the draft it looked better than in the final since it looked cleaner and more different than this one. It was a challenge for me because the circles were supposed to be perfect, but it doesn't look as good as the draft does and I made the circle too small or too big or not connected like how it looks like in the draft. So, it would count as penetration I decided to color in the big circles and leave everything white. If I could change anything from this artwork, I would connect the two bottom circles together more and put it more in the middle but also change the two big circles into more even and make them the same size.
For Touching, it wasn't that hard for me to complete since I only had to do what I did on the draft which were lines on top of other lines. The only challenge for me to complete in this artwork was to make the liens look equal and not look messy. I tried to make the lines even and have an even space between each one of them so if I could change anything from this artwork I would change the lines so they could look cleaner and more even within each other.  But other than the imperfections being shown, I think that it looks very interesting to look at.

This artwork shows overlapping where in the artwork it shows five forms overlapping over each other where the rectangle is in front of the other four forms overlapping the sides or corners of it. The challenge I mostly had on this artwork was to make the circle look not too big or too small but the right size like how it looks like on the draft. The few things I would change in this artwork is to change the size of the circle and the hexagons size and its sides. But overall, the artwork looked easy to do overlapping since I could just do shapes and overlap them.
This artwork shows coinciding lines, and a part of the paper is shaded in, so it was considered as coincided. The only challenge I had when doing this artwork was to make sure that the lines were even and straight enough to look clean when going horizontally. What I like about this artwork was that it looks interesting, and it was easy for me to complete but it also looks like a part of a puzzle piece. What I would have changed in this one was that I could have made the lines straighter and more even like the other ones but also shade in the part where it black to make it look more even and not messy.

This artwork shows intersection where in the artwork it shows lines intersecting with other lines that have different sizes which were long and short. When I made this piece, it was a failure since it was supposed to reference a thumb print or a fingerprint which I did this wrong, but since it still shows intersection and was a bit interesting, so I decided to leave it there as a part of the final. The only challenge I had with this one was to make the lines not to short or not too long, which I wanted them to be diverse within each other. What I would have changed in this artwork was to make the forms narrower so it can seem more like a fingerprint or add more lines to it.
This artwork shows Union where in this artwork it can be shown 4 forms which are circles that are shaded in which have different sizes which are not too big. A challenge that I faced making this piece was to make the circles even and round instead of making it crooked. What I could have changed in this artwork was to make the circles look better. In my opinion, I don't really like this artwork because it looks boring to me and there wasn't much effort into it since it was kind of rushed, but also, I didn't really understand this one.

Comments

  1. I really like your drawings especially the third one, because I like how the circles look overlapped, but are still visible at the same time

  2. I quite like all of them, they are nicely drawn and look pretty to look at. Union is the best one since the Circles look bold.

  3. I really like the drawing of coinciding, because the filling is really clean, and there are barely any mistakes in it. Detachment could be improved by having more shapes to make it look less empty.
