Gridded Concert Poster Sketches




For the assignment Gridded Concert Poster Sketches, I broke the grid using some elements on the 

background along from the main artist. I added the title of the album along with the dates and prices of the 

concert as I put it neatly as possible on the grid. I did this because it helps emphasize the design and make it 

catch attention to  the person's eye. I tried to make everything not stay perfectly in line because I didn’t want it 

to look boring and plain since I wanted to add some creativity to it. Breaking the grid makes it feel more active

and creative so it can add some movement and energy instead of making it look so stiff. I tried to add some 

movement to the background or at least add some color when I’m going to make the final design. Putting the

artist first and in the middle creates a strong point to the poster for the people to know its importance along 

with the person's album title. I broke the grid in order for it to look unique and different from the other posters 

as it is all fun and creative to look at, but also gets to the point as it is done carefully with precision and the 

information is still easy to read once I make the final. I tried not to be a try hard since drawing is my best suit 

so I tried to make it as ordinary and not as neat as possible since in the end it is just a sketch and it doesn’t 

matter much anyways.I broke the grid when putting the title and the information for the concert tour because if 

it was neat then it would have looked somewhat boring, but I also did it when drawing the artist, but I don’t 

think it matters much.

When I was doing repetition of direction, I felt confident on this piece because I had a vision on this artwork where I was imagining a tunnel going all the way down as if the forms were getting smaller and smaller like if it was going down. I like the end results because I was able to complete what I was imagining when starting this and it was more detailed and more focused than the other finals I was doing for this assignment. What I think would have done a bit more differently was to add more detail to the corners to give it more depth and shade. I think my drawing skills have improved a little bit on this piece since due to the more advanced design and detail added into it. r

3 Letters Final

   The three letters that I have chosen for this final was Garamond, Rockwell, and Baskerville. What I did was that I drew 2 lowercase letters as white, but I colored in the Q black so it wasn’t so bland. Making the sketches was a bit easy since I was able to imagine what I wanted to do for this project, but what was hard for me to do was to draw the curves when the letter had a small curve like the Q has. But the harder letter I had to do was the letter g since drawing it in lowercase looked harder to do. What I would have changed about this was add words at the background so it could look more interesting and not so bland.

Point Line Plane by Emily Gomez

This drawing was the first drawing I made was, line. I liked this first drawing when I did it in the rough drafts because it looked like a rose to me in a weird way, so I decided to add it to the published one, and what I did here was just add lines and make it go smaller as I go further into the middle of the paper. but it was a challenge to me because it didn't look like how it was in the draft which was a disappointment for me, but it was too late to change it. I think I could have changed it by fixing the lines and the ends of it. But I think it looks weird and different because of the frame since it looks different on the rough draft. This drawing shows that I've used points on this frame. When I drew this on the rough drafts it was easy for me since I just drew 3 dots and resembled a point since it was basically just 3 points.
